Water Surveys:

Baseball Season – Watch Kids
Baseball season is under way. Drive carefully. Watch for kids along Erie Street near Jordan Park!
Mosquitos
-Adult mosquito surveillance season will resume on 5/1/23.
-Vehicles all have a BU number “7292” located on either side directly behind the cab, most vehicle also display other kinds of marking such as “Mercer County Conservation District” or “Mercer County Vector Management Coalition” insignias. All vehicles have Municipal Government license plates.
Garbage: If they miss you:
Call the Borough Office that day – Please do Not call Waste Management directly.
The Borough has a special number to make sure garbage gets picked up.
Community Garage Sales Day:
The Community Garage Sales Day is always on the 3rd Saturday in July. This year it is July 15th.
NO permit is needed, and sales are for a maximum of two (2) days only: Friday thru Sunday.
Yard Sales:
Don’t forget to get your free yard sale permit. You are limited to two (2) per year plus the community sale.
Permits Needed:
Please remember that permits are needed for:
…any new construction…garages…additions… sheds…fences…swimming pools…decks,
…driveways – including blacktop…demolitions…rentals and short- term rental units…signs…
…Stormwater (including drainage systems) …garage sales…outdoor burning…Soliciting door to door.
Generators:
The Borough has installed several generators in strategic places to make sure we do not run out of water during an emergency, and to keep the fire hall and borough building up and running. They are loud when they run, but remember they are only temporary, and they are tested regularly. When they are running, such as during the recent storms, they are doing their job!
Signs:
Signs need permits. There are a few exceptions, however there is always a square foot requirement.
Check the borough website and look at zoning (Chapter 18-Part A) under “signs”.

SUMMER READING registration dates: Saturday, June 10th 9 am – 1 pm & Wednesday, June 14th 12 pm – 6 pm.
Heritage Society
The Saegertown Heritage Museum will open for the season on April 29th from 10:00 to 2:00.
New exhibits for the coming year include an Indian artifact collection of Jeffrey Hannold; 50th anniversary of Woodcock Dam; and A tribute to the Jordan Family’s contributions to our community.
The museum will be open the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.
Saegertown Vol. Fire Dept: CASH BASH is Back this Summer!!!!
After the pandemic cancellations, the Annual CASH BASH will once again be held this summer.
It will be held on Saturday June 3rd at the Crawford County Fair Grounds. Gates will open at 2:00 pm.
$25,000 in cash will be given away with multiple winners possible! There will be 107 winners drawn.
The $20.00 tickets include a meal, and are available from many local businesses, at the Fire Station
and at the Borough Building on Erie Street. Come support the Fire Department and win some money!
Lawn Mowing:
Lawns must be kept mowed and trimmed no longer than 6 inches high!!!
Pets Running Freely:
Dogs and CATS must be kept confined to your property or kept on a leash.
If you are walking a dog, you must clean up after them immediately.
Rental Units – None East of Railroad Tracks:
Reminder: no new rental units are permitted anywhere on the east side of the railroad tracks.
Jordan Park Pavilion Rentals – Closed During August
The picnic shelters at Jordan park are getting new roofs this August. There will be no rentals that month.
Grief Support Gathering:
A Grief Support Gathering will be held on May 11 at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown (363 Erie St.) in Apostles Hall at 1:00. Facilitators will be Pastor Mark Fischer and Richard Schmalzried RN. These sessions will continue on the 2nd Thursdays of each month.
Christmas Tree Thank You:
Thank You “Bryer Properties” for donating another lighted Christmas Tree to the Borough.
It will be a welcome addition during the next holiday season. Thanks to Jim Cooper for negotiating the deal!!
Pedestrians Blocking Traffic: Be Respectful!
Traffic must stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks on Main Street.
However, pedestrians (including kids) must yield to traffic in all other areas of the Borough.
We have warned several juveniles, and parents may be fined in the future.
Safety Tip: Flash Floods and Flooding:
-Floods are one of our most common hazards
-Some floods develop slowly
-Others like flash floods can happen within minutes
-Be aware of any flooding potential where you live.
-Pay attention to watches and warnings
-Flood watch: flooding possible
-Flash flood watch – Flash flood possible
-Flood warning: it is going to flood, evacuate or prepare to evacuate
-Remember: “Turn Around…Don’t Drown” do not drive through flooded roads or streets.
-Listen to a fire monitor or local news media for instructions.
Drop Box: Per Capita & Property Tax payments may be dropped in the Borough drop box (NOT the sewer box)
