Borough Office Open:

Until further notice – the Borough Office will be open with same conditions, using COVID precautions.

Independence Day Holiday:

-Borough Office: Closed on July 5th

-Garbage pick-up as usual on July 5th

-No fireworks in Borough – respect noise ordinance on the weekdays.

Annual Water Quality Report (CCR):

The annual water quality report is now available on our website. saegertowpa.com.

Just click on the link to review the report.

“Virtual Spring Raffle” at Saegertown Fire Department:

The fire department is having a “virtual spring raffle” on Saturday June 5th. Prizes will be drawn live on Facebook starting at 12:00 noon. Tickets are only $10.00 each. They are available at local businesses, from any fireman, at the Borough Office, and at the Fire Station any Wed. evening or Sunday morning. www.saegertownvfd.com


We are now picking up brush. The pieces must be no longer than 5 foot long, and placed in neat piles.

We will not pick up brush from trees that were removed. If you have brush, we will get to it when we can.

Transportation Assistance by CATA:

Low to moderate income households may qualify for door-to-door ride sharing service

that is 85% subsidized. Participants must be under 65 years old,

and meet income requirements. Call CATA for more information: 814-336-5600

Signs: Need to be Maintained!

New signs require a permit. Existing signs must be maintained as follows: All signs must be maintained in good condition, and shall not be faded, or have missing letters or the intended design. Signs not meeting these conditions must be repaired or replaced.

Garbage Cans:

Garbage can be placed at the curb for no longer than 24 hours before pick-up. (Cannot be placed out before Sunday morning at 8:00 am). And… garbage containers must be removed from the curb no later than 24 hours after pick-up. (Must be removed by Tuesday at 8:00 am) Fines are $50 for the first offense, and $100 for the next offense. No warning is required.

Mowing and Trimming Grass and Weeds:

Remember that grass and weeds must be mowed and trimmed to no longer than 6 inches. This includes your property and the rights-of-way adjoining the property. Utility poles, signs and fire hydrants must be trimmed.

New Flower Boxes:

The new flower boxes and flowers in the roundabout was made possible with a grant from the Jordan Family Foundation. “Thank You to the Jordan Family!” (Flowers will be planted shortly)


Dogs and Cats:

-Pet owners must make sure pets do NOT disturb the peace and quiet of the neighborhood by barking, crying, whining, or howling.

-Owners must clean up messes from all pets immediately.

-Pets are not permitted to run freely in the Borough. They must be on a leash.

Paving Project 2021:

The following streets will be paved sometime between April 19th and July 1st. Be prepared to move vehicles.

            –Broad Street from Grant St. to the railroad tracks.

            –McGill Street from Euclid Ave. to Grant Street.

            –Kern Alley from McGill Street to Sackett Alley.

            –Sackett Alley

Electronics Recycling:

Once again, the Jordan Family Foundation will sponsor an electronics recycling program this year,

during the month of August. This project is for Borough Residents ONLY. We will accept the following list of items at the Borough Building during any weekday. Please call first to make sure the office is open.

-TV’s, computers, copiers, fax machines, printers, radios, stereos, old phones, portable AC, humidifiers,

Re-chargeable batteries

We will NOT take:

            -speakers, cords, microwaves, vacuum cleaners. Put them out with your trash.

-You must be able to unload the items you bring to the Borough Building.

-Broken TV screens are subject to a $10 fee.

-Anyone bringing in items from outside the Borough will not be permitted to participate

in the program in the future, and could be subject to theft charges.

Deadline Extended Again due to Virus:

REAL ID – extended until May 3, 2023

Heritage Society and McGill House Reopening:

The Saegertown Heritage Society is re-opening their facilities for the season on a limited basis.  The Museum, located on Broad Street across from the library, will be available to the public from 10:00 to 2:00 on the 3rd Saturday of every month, beginning June 19th.  Donations of Saegertown area items are welcome.

The McGill House will have guided tours by reservation only (call 814-763-4101 and leave a message) for groups of ten or less. Anyone wishing to join the society may attend the meetings held the second Monday of every month at 6:30 at the museum on Broad St.

Saegertown Library’s Summer Reading Program for Pre-K – 12th Grade!

Registration Dates are:

◊Saturday, June 5th 10 am – 1 pm

◊Wednesday, June 9th 3 pm – 7 pm

◊Saturday, June 12th 10 am – 1 pm


Community Yard Sales

We will be having community yard sales again this year on the third Saturday in July. (July 17th)

This could change if new COVID guide lines are released. No permits are needed.

Set up is permitted Friday, and all items must be cleaned up by Monday.

Update on PFOS / PFOA:

While we were not required to shut the wells down, we voluntarily did so. We are going to bring the wells back on line as needed. We are waiting for further direction from the PA DEP. If you are uncomfortable, you can use bottled water. We feel the water is safe, and will continuously monitor the situation.

 Safety Tip of the Month:

When School’s Out Watch for Kids!

  • Remember: Children play in streets, and ride their bikes on them.
  • Please drive carefully and pay attention.
  • Kids also walk and bike to the Library and to Jordan park. Be particularly careful driving along Erie St.
  • Watch for ball games at Jordan Park, and be observant if a baseball goes out into the road.
  • There is NO Parking along Erie St. near Jordan Park.
  • Don’t forget to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks! (State law)

 Tax Collector Information:

◊Payments may be made by mail to: Saegertown Tax Collector, PO Box 348, Saegertown, Pa. 16433

◊The Tax Collector will have office hours at the Borough Building on the following evenings from 6:30 until 8:00  

            –Wednesday June 29th            

◊Tax Office hours at the Borough Building will be on the following Saturday from 10 am until 11 am

            -None until fall

The Borough Secretary cannot accept tax payments.
