Community Garage Sales Day:
The Community Garage Sales Day is always on the 3rd Saturday in July. This year it is July 15th.
NO permit is needed, and sales are for a maximum of two (2) days only: Friday thru Sunday.
Updated Website – More Information:
The Borough website: saegertownpa.com has been updated, including a new section for “Public Alerts” that scrolls along the top of the page. This provides information such as water leaks, disaster warnings, or other news worthy items. This monthly newsletter is also posted each month.
Garbage Collection- Change in pick-up times:
Starting June 5th, the trash collection will start around 10:00. We still recommend having trash out by 8:00 am.
Do not call the Borough Office to say they missed your trash until the afternoon.
Roundabouts:
Someone recently joked that the roundabouts make a good “DUI Checkpoint”.
Considering the recent events that is not really funny.
People who cannot navigate a roundabout should not be driving.
Please use your turn signals while driving in them, it speeds up traffic.
Remember: Always Yield to vehicles that are IN the roundabout.
Rental Units:
If anyone other than close family relatives live at a residence, it is a RENTAL UNIT!
Even if NO rent is paid. Check the website for information, or call the Borough Office with questions.
Bikes:
Last summer, stolen bikes were an issue around town. If your bike is stolen, call the State Police and keep the Borough Office informed. If we find a bike, it will be chained to a pole at the Library. To retrieve it, come to the Borough Office with a photo ID, and sign a paper verifying it belongs to you.
Bears:
There have been multiple Bear sightings in the Saegertown area this spring.
Give them their space if you see one, and enjoy the sighting. Do not startle them.
Keep lids on garbage cans, and bring bird feeders in at night if you have a problem.
Door-to-Door Salesmen:
Door-to-door salesmen must have a permit, for any type of sales.
Ask the salesman to see their permit. Make sure it is from the Borough.
Call the Borough immediately with complaints or questions.
Swimming Pools:
Any swimming pool over two (2) feet deep needs a permit.
Applications on the website or get one at Borough Office.
Signs:
Signs need permits. There are a few exceptions, however there is always a square foot requirement.
Check the borough website and look at zoning (Chapter 18-Part A) under “signs”.
News from your Saegertown Area Library:
Looking for a FREE, FUN way to keep your kids reading this summer? Register them for the Saegertown Area Library’s Summer Reading program, “ALL TOGETHER NOW!” Kids from Pre-K – 12th Grade can register on SATURDAY, JUNE 10, from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. or on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14, from 12:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. Kids will improve their reading skills while earning wonderful prizes!

We had two recent house fires in the Borough.
Quick work by the firemen in both cases kept damage to a minimum.

Political Signs:
Political signs must be removed within 48 hours after the election from the Street rights of way.
Father’s Day:
Father’s Day is Sunday June 18th. If you are lucky enough to have one, take some time to make his day special.
Heritage Society:
Just a reminder that the museum is open the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10:00 to 2:00.
McGill House tours will begin June 3rd, then every first Saturday of the month at 11:00
Sewer:
The sewer is a JOINT Authority, combining Saegertown, Hayfield Twp. and Woodcock Twp.
The Borough cannot take sewer payments, or answer any questions. Call 814-807-1720 with questions.
School is Out…
It is once again summer vacation for school students. Watch for kids crossing streets or riding bikes.
Fireworks Warning:
Fireworks of any kind are not permitted in the Borough. Violators can be fined.
There are several fireworks displays in the area over the 4th of July.
Go and enjoy a firework’s show. Don’t get hurt with your own! (Fire Code: 5601)
Safety Tip: That time of Year: Tornados
Tornado Instructions:
Watch: When conditions are right to spawn a tornado. Pay attention!
Warning: Tornado is imminent or in the area. The fire siren will blow. Take cover.
What to do: Go in doors
Shelter in a safe location in your residence.
Stay away from windows or objects that can fall over.
Listen to a radio, TV or scanner for instructions.
