CCR – Annual Water Report Available:

Check out our website for the annual water quality report. This is called the CCR (Consumer Confidence Report)

There is a tab on the Main Page, which takes you directly to the report.

Community Garage Sales Day:

The Community Garage Sales Day is always on the 3rd Saturday in July. This year it is July 15th.

NO permit is needed, and sales are for a maximum of two (2) days only: Friday thru Sunday.

NO commercial sales are permitted on private property, and no yard sales are permitted on Borough Property such as the Town Square, Jordan Park, and next to the Roundabouts.

Thank You!

We would like to thank all the residents that comply with ordinances and try to keep town looking good. Keeping your property up, as does your neighbor’s, makes the value of your property increase!

Garbage: Do not bring it in Town…

For some reason, several residents have decided that the increased garbage rates give them permission to bring garbage from outside the Borough into town. We have issued several warnings. Future violators will be fined!

We will also hold landlords responsible for their tenants.

Notice – Governor Declares Drought Watch:

Penna. Gov. Shapiro has ordered a “drought watch” for all 67 Counties in Penna.

The following are some recommendations from PA DEP.

                *Limit car washes

                *Fix leaks or running toilets

*Limit dish washing and washing machine use

*Water gardens in cooler mornings or evenings

                *Only water lawn if necessary

Solar Eclipse – Next Year:

Just giving everyone a heads-up. On April 8, 2024, there will be a total solar eclipse.

Our area will see partial blackouts from about 2 to 4:30 pm. More on this later.

Street Rights-of-Way? The Facts…

You are responsible for maintaining the rights-of-way that border your property. This includes mowing and trimming, raking leaves, snow plowing and shoveling. There are regulations on what you can do on the

rights-of-way. (Some rules are State regulations!) Please check with the Borough Office before you plant anything, build anything, or remove anything from or on a street right-of-way.

What is PFAS? A Review…

PFAS / PFOS are “forever chemicals” that do not break down over time.

-They are used to manufacture the following “common” items:

                                -Non-stick pans

                                -Fast food wrappers and containers

                                -Water resistant clothing (like Gortex)

                                -Water resistant carpeting

-Seats in your car or truck

                                -Many other common items!!!

Unfortunately, PFAS currently is not regulated at the manufacturing end, only when it gets in the water table!!!

PFAS Update…

-We continue to test for PFAS quarterly as required by PA DEP

-We have shut the contaminated wells off, and only use them when we absolutely must.

-We have entered a class action lawsuit against the manufacturers of the chemicals.

-We have hired an engineering firm and a geologist to design a treatment plant to remove the contaminate when we use the wells in the future.

-In the near future, we will be finalizing, and applying for a grant to fund the new project, and the potential for one looks promising.

Electronic Recycling:

Electronic recycling will take place once again in August. There is a limit on items we can take this year.

Only two items will be taken for FREE. Each additional item will cost $5.00 each. You must bring exact change.

Televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, VCR’s, radios, copiers, etc. will be accepted. Boro residents ONLY!

Trees:

-Several of the Borough’s trees will be removed or trimmed in the next few months.

-Remember not to remove or trim any Borough Trees. If you are not sure…ask the office.

Creek Bank:

-Saegertown is the only community that you can drive along French Creek and enjoy it’s beauty.

In most towns you can only see the creek when you cross over it. We are lucky…enjoy it!
