Note: Garbage pick-up CHANGE

Garbage will be picked up as usual on Monday Nov. 27th after Thanksgiving.

Pick-up after Christmas and New Year will change. It will be Tuesday Dec. 26 and Tuesday January 2.

Water Leaks: Look before you call.

We post information on issues like water leaks, leaf pickup, street closures, hydrant flushing etc. on our website. Before you call about low water pressure, or discolored water, check the web site first. When we are working on a problem, if possible, we post it on the top of the page under “alerts. Many times, we do not know how large of an area a water problem will affect, so please check for notifications.

Leaves in Ditches:

Unfortunately, we cannot pick up leaves in the ditches on Saeger Heights. We do not have the time or, manpower to rake them. You can bag them or mulch them after raking them out of the ditch.

Rates for 2024:

Property Taxes:

NO Increase. There will NOT be an increase in Borough Property Taxes in 2024.

Water Line Fee:

There will be a slight increase in water line fees in 2024. Most residences will increase $1 a month.

Water Rates:

NO Increase. Water rates will remain the same in 2024.

Garbage Rates:

NO Increase. Garbage rates will remain the same.

Miss Saegertown:

The Women’s Improvement Club sponsored a “Miss Saegertown” contest this year.

Miss Saegertown is Kylie Boring and Little Miss Saegertown is Brooklin Golembeski.

If anyone would like to book them for an appearance, please text Diana at 814-439-0076.

Christmas – Borough Office Closed:

The Borough Office will be closed from Friday Dec. 22nd until Wednesday Dec. 27th.

New Year’s – Borough Office Closed:

The Borough office will be closed from Saturday December 30, 2023, until Tuesday January 2, 2024.

Water Project – PFAS Removal:

The Borough has hired an engineer to design a treatment plant for our contaminated water wells.

The project will be very costly. We have applied for grants and loans to fund the project, and we are waiting for Penna. DEP and PENNVEST approvals. Keep your fingers crossed that we get a grant.

Water Bills are Due the 20th of each Month:

Late fees for water bills have been increased starting in January 2024.

Bills not paid by the 20th of the month are subject to a $15.00 per unit fee or 18% whichever is higher.

Flood Plain Ordinance:

Certain properties in the Borough are in the Federal Flood Plain. The Borough Office can provide you with this information if you need it, such as for a loan from the bank.

Drop Boxes for Payments:

We have many complaints about water payments not being delivered in a timely manner. We cannot be responsible for the mail. We suggest paying in person or using the drop box in front of the Boro Building.

Please Remember: Snow Parking Regulations start Nov. 1st:

Violators will be fined. This is enforced when there is ANY snow or snow is expected.

Plowing snow on private property:

You cannot plow or shovel snow onto someone else’s property without permission,

or ACROSS or into streets. Please be respectful of others.

Items on Utility Poles:

It is illegal to place items on utility poles without permission from the utility. This includes articles such as: posters, flyers, for sale signs and yard sales signs. You can NOT nail, staple or tack anything to a utility pole!           

Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept.:

Annual donations are still being accepted at PO Box 164, Saegertown.

Remember to be fire safe over the Holidays!

News from your Saegertown Area Library:

The Saegertown Area Library will be having its basket raffle again, starting in mid-November,

until just before Christmas. Check out the BEAUTIFUL BASKETS to be raffled at the Saegertown Area Library!!

Everything from LEGOS to LOTTERY TICKETS! (And… gift card package, gas card, and many more!)

Stop by the Library and buy a stack of tickets. Winners will be pulled on Dec. 18th.

You can view the baskets and purchase tickets at the Library on Broad Street.

A “George Washington Trail” Sign is coming to the South Roundabout Park Area. Watch for details!

Safety Tip of the Month: Space Heaters:

                                Cold weather is approaching. Be careful using space heaters.

                                Do not use kerosene or propane fired heaters indoors.

                                Make sure you have a Carbon Monoxide alarm if you are running a gas space heater.

                                Keep all space heaters at least 3 feet from any combustibles!

                                Make sure electric heaters have a tip-over shut off switch.

Tax Office hours will be at the Borough Building on the following date and times:                           

                Wed:       December 27 (from 6 to 7 pm)

Remember the Borough Secretary cannot accept tax payments.                         

Regular Community Meetings:

Borough Council: meetings second Mon. of month, 6:00 pm at Saegertown Borough Building on Erie St.

Sewer Authority: meetings second Wed. of month, 6:00 pm at Saegertown Borough Building on Erie St.
