December 2022 Newsletter

Good News and Bad News:

The Good News: Property tax rates and Water rates will remain the same in 2023!

The Bad News: The garbage rates for the next 3 years will be $36.00 per month.

The Borough bid out the contract and received only 2 bids. The other was $41.00 per month.

Refuse rules and the pick-up date and times will remain the same. (Monday pick-up)

Ambulance Service: The Borough now has to pay to have an ambulance service available for emergencies. Ambulance and rescue services are having a difficult time, due to the excess of unnecessary calls, such as lift assists, or trees and wires down. Please only call 9-1-1 for an emergency if it is a TRUE Emergency!

Sewer Rates:

The Borough has nothing to do with setting the Sewer Rates. Those rates are set by the “Sewer Authority”.

The Joint Authority is raising rates for 2023. Please direct questions to the Authority, NOT the Borough.

Leaves: Done for the Year.

Brush – Done for the Year.

The Borough will not pick-up leaves or brush again until April 2023. Do NOT store them next to the street.

Snow Parking:

Snow parking regulations start on November 1st, and continue until April 1st.

-NO Parking on ANY street on Saeger-Heights

-NO Parking from Midnight to 7 am on the following streets:

                                -Erie Street          -Main Street

-NO Parking on the West and North side of all other streets on Even days of the week (9 am to 4 pm)

-NO Parking one the East and South side of all other streets on Odd days of the week (9 am to 4 pm)

-NO Parking along all Alleys, or must be at least 10 feet from the center of the alley.

Sidewalks on Main Street: Snow

The Borough will be blowing snow off the Main Street sidewalks this year, once a day as needed. Property owners are required to clean-up any excess and keep ice off them. We prefer others do not plow snow on the walks…we want to blow it off or have you shovel it by hand. If someone plows a parking lot or driveway, and the excess piles on sidewalks, owners must clean that up.
