Garbage: Must be out at 8:00 AM….

Our garbage contract requires garbage to be out by 8:00 am on Monday morning,

Even though they may not pick-up until later in the day.  

Please… do NOT call the Borough Office if they miss your garbage until the afternoon.

Remember…garbage must be out by the curb by 8:00 am!

Also: no bringing garbage in from out of town.

No hiding paint or hazardous materials in your garbage.

Crawford Gives: August 27 to 29

Remember to support these local non-profits with a donation to the following:

*Saegertown Vol. Fire Dept.   *Saegertown Area Library   *Saegertown Heritage Society.

Electronic Recycling:

Electronic recycling will take place once again in August. There is a limit on items we can take this year.

Only two items will be taken for FREE. Each additional item will cost $5.00 each. You must bring exact change.

Televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, VCR’s, radios, copiers, etc. will be accepted. Boro residents ONLY!

Emergency Preparedness Guide Available:

We have a limited number of Emergency Preparedness Guides from Ready.PA.gov. at the Borough Office.

The guide addresses: Floods, Fires, Winter Storms, Weather Emergencies like tornados, Pandemic, Hazardous Materials, Earthquakes, Nuclear Threats, Dam failures, and terrorism. There is also a section on disabilities and one on pets. You can pick up a copy at the Borough Office, free of charge, while supplies last.

E-mail Notices and Alerts:

If you would like to have alerts, and notices from the Boro e-mailed to you, please sign up at the Office.

(No phone calls please). Alerts, such as water leaks, street closures, garbage changes etc.

 will be e-mailed to you. We will NOT sell or distribute your address to others. This is for Borough residents.

What are the Street Rights-of-Way?

You are responsible for maintaining the rights-of-way that border your property.

See the following on exactly where the right-of-way is:

                -(60 feet wide) – 30 feet from the center of the street.

                                -Bell, Parkview, Lynnhaven, Ross, Valleyview, Windvale, Carlyn

                -(60 feet wide) – 30 feet from the center of the street

                                -Grant, Water, Washington.,

                -(70 feet wide) – 35 feet from the center of the street

-Broad, Euclid, Mill, Main from South to McGill

                -(50 feet wide) –

-Main from South border to South Street and Main from McGill to North border

                -(53 feet wide) – 26 ½ feet from center of the street.

                                -Erie St.

                -(45 feet wide) – 22 ½ feet from center of the street.

                                -McGill St.)

                – (8 feet) from the edge of street (1/2 street in Woodcock Township)

                                -North Street

                -(20 feet wide) – 10 feet from center of alley.

                                -ALL alleys

News from your Saegertown Area Library:

LAST CHANCE: FREE Computer Basics Class

The Saegertown Area Library’s last computer basics class will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. Call 814-763-5203 now to reserve your spot because space is limited. Presented by a local IT person.

Notice – Governor Declares Drought Watch:

Gov. Shapiro has not lifted the drought watch yet. See last month’s newsletter for DEP recommendations.

Roundabout Repairs: Update

Both roundabouts should be repaired by the time you read this newsletter. The South one is completed, and the north one is scheduled for repair by the end of July if all the parts arrive.

Safety Tip: Electrical Safety: Down Power Lines

                -Keep at least 100 feet from large power lines, and at least 30 feet from any downed line.

                -Do NOT approach or touch a vehicle with downed lines touching it.

                -Call 9-1-1

                -If in a car, drive off the line, or stay in your vehicle.

                -If you must exit vehicle…jump clear.

-Do NOT touch the vehicle and ground at the same time.

                -If you jump, try to land on both feet, and shuffle until at least 30 feet away.

◊Payments can be made by mail to: Saegertown Tax Collector, PO Box 348, Saegertown, Pa. 16433

◊Payments can be dropped in the “Water” drop box, but NOT in the “Sewer” drop box.

Tax Office hours will be at the Borough Building on the following dates and times:

            Wed:      August 16 and 30 (from 6 to 7 pm)

                Wed:       September 13 – 20 -27 (from 6 to 7 pm)

                Sat.          September 30 (from 10 to 11 am)

                Wed:       October 11 (from 6 to 7 pm)                            

Wed:       November 15 and 29 (from 6 to 7 pm)

                Wed:       December 27 (from 6 to 7 pm)

Remember the Borough Secretary cannot accept tax payments.
