New DEP Service Line Mandate

The newest DEP MANDATE is that the Borough has to inventory all service lines from the water main to your meter. Please help us out by returning the questionnaire enclosed with this month’s water bill. Return it with your water Payment or drop it in the drop box. If you do not return it, we will have to inspect inside your house.

Water Payments Due by the 20th of each Month:

Water payments are due by the 20th of the month. Once we have read the water meters each month, penalties and interest will be added to any bill not paid. Once you owe for 3 months, you are subject to shut-off.

Grass along Main Street:

Reminder: Along Main St. grass must be maintained between the sidewalks and the street. Grass and Weeds must be kept mowed and trimmed to less than 6 inches high. Flowers, shrubs and trees planted between the sidewalk and the street must have Borough approval. Let’s keep Main St. looking good!

Safety Tip: Train Derailments:

Recent derailment in Ohio: We were in contact with County Emergency Management Agency, and DEP officials monitoring the incident. Saegertown was never under any threat, and we would have notified you if we were.

In Saegertown: There are very limited hazardous materials that are shipped through Saegertown. County EMA maintains a list of the chemicals. None of the chemicals are as dangerous as the ones passing through Ohio. The Borough EMA and the Fire Dept. have multiple reference books on how to handle any specific chemical spill.

What to do if a train derails in Saegertown:

–Notify 9-1-1 if the Fire Dept. has not been notified.

–Stay away from the wreck – let officials size up the incident.

–Go indoors and listen to the fire monitor or local media for instructions.

–If the disaster siren blows – stay indoors, close doors and windows and follow instructions.
